Q: How long have you lived in Camps Bay?

A: I am not a resident of Camps Bay but am Cape Town born and bred and have spent many a summer of my youth on the beaches of Camps Bay and Clifton. I am passionate about this Cape Town and the preserving of its natural beauty.

Q: Before the CID Management Team, how have you been involved in local community affairs?

A: Cape Town is my home and my belief is that you must be the change you want to see. I became heavily involved in community safety work to make the city safer for my family and all its citizens.

I served on the Cape Town Central Community Police Forum for the better part of 19 years, chairing for 6 years of them. In this time, I established 6 neighbourhood watches in the Cape Town area as well as being a founding member of the Parow West Neighbourhood watch.

Having stepped down as chair of the CT CPF, I became more operational and was elected as Chair for 2 of its sub sectors (City centre and foreshore area) running monthly safety programs.

I was one of the first members of the community to become a law enforcement auxiliary member volunteering my time to enforce bylaws as a law enforcement reservist for the city of Cape Town.

I served on the Cape Town Ward Forum committee for the past 8 years advising the ward councillor of the needs of the ward.

I serve on a street watch in my neighbourhood and regularly patrol the streets in my spare time.

I participated in many social programs aimed at uplifting the homeless in an effort to reintegrate them back into society.

Q: What is your career and professional background?

A: I have achieved many security industry PSIRA accredited qualifications, which included Grades E to A. Events Management, Armed response, Level 3 First Aid as well as a Diploma in Security Management. To compliment this, I have further completed a 3-year Advanced diploma in management at UWC which encompassed all aspects of management from Finance to Operations. I started my career in the Security industry over 25 years ago and have gained experience in all levels of the industry.

I have attended various international conferences to hone my skills on Security and public management, these include the IFSEC Security conference in London and the Night-time Economy Conference in New Orleans.

I have worked in the Urban Regeneration Industry for the last 20 years as HOD for Safety and Security at the Cape Town Central City Improvement District running major programs with both the City of Cape Town and The WC Provincial Government as well as with Selected Business associations.

The CID model definitely works as proven in many parts of the world, areas where CID’s have been implemented are better managed and flourish making it better not only for the residents who live and work there, but for all its visitors as well.

Q: Anything else that we should know about you?

A: I am happily married to my lovely wife for over 25 years, and we have 4 children together. I am a family man who loves spending time with my family in the outdoors enjoying all the splendours of Cape Town. I am passionate about Cape Town and its people and will go to the ends of the earth to promote and make this awesome City better.

I love travelling both locally and internationally, but always end up comparing everywhere to what we have in Cape Town and bringing back the best parts of those cities to implement in our beautiful City.

I am an amateur foodie and love trying new eating experiences regularly updating my followers on social media on the best places to eat.
