Ian Morris

How long have you lived in Camps Bay?

I spent my early years in Bantry Bay before moving to Camps Bay 48 years ago. I have been in the same house for 38 years.

How have you been involved in local community affairs?

For many years, I was an active member of the Lions Club of Camps Bay. I am a trustee of the Cape Town Progressive Jewish Congregation, treasurer of the national association and member of the audit committee of the international body

What is your career and professional background?

I obtained a B.Com degree from UCT and was admitted as a chartered accountant in 1976. I remained in the profession for 13 years until I was asked to relocate from Camps Bay to Johannesburg. I then took up a financial executive position with a company involved in the manufacture, import and distribution of kids toys and games. I remained with that company through its various guises and product cycles for 35 years – the last 14 years of which I acted as CEO including a number of years on the group executive committee of the listed holding company.

Anything else that we should know about you?

I am married to Dalene who has lived in Camps Bay for 55 years. We have two married sons. We enjoy travelling and have visited many locations especially for scuba diving adventures in our earlier days. Time in the bush on safaris remains an almost annual highlight for us. Twice daily walks with our border collie keeps us active in our retirement.
