Ian Merrington is Group CEO of UVU Africa, and is also a Director of Injini, Africa’s first EdTech Incubator and Executive Chairperson of UVU Bio (specialized biotechnology laboratories & incubators)
UVU Africa is the continents oldest technology incubator and is to-day regarded as one of the leading Technology business incubators in the world and has just been recognised by the Financial Times as one of Africa’s fastest growing organisations. Ian played a leading role in establishing the group’s offices and biotechnology hub in Kigali, Rwanda, and the organisations Pan African growth over the last ten years.
Ian is passionate about the role of technology and innovation in solving the challenges faced by modern societies. He believes that inclusive innovation can improve lives across the continent and drive economic growth and societal change.
Ian has a wealth of corporate experience, with extensive experience in the technology, innovation and the creative sectors. He is also a passionate amateur wildlife photographer, loves the outdoors and can be found hiking on the pipe track most evenings after work. Ian has been very involved in community matters and was Chairperson of Camps Bay Watch and a founding member of CBCSI from 2008 to 2015.
